IMPERIAL PLUS CHICORY long term grass seed mix
Long term cutting and grazing grass mix with chicory
Imperial grass seed mixture is made up of all late perennial ryegrasses to give excellent first cut silage.
Late perennials also make the grass mix less likely to produce stemmy seed heads in the summer so Imperial maintains a lush leafy sward through-out the grass growing season.
With Chicory added to the sward you have an excellent lamb finishing ley with the ability of adding 0.3-0.4kg/dlwg. Graze chicory from about 8 weeks after drilling or 25-30cm tall; graze hard in spring to prevent plant flowering, preferably using a strip grazing or rotation method until crop is 2 inches tall. Avoid hard grazing after flowering or during wet conditions to prevent crown damage and ensure longevity of the crop.
AberAvon is included to boost yields, it has the highest grazing D-value of all late perennial ryegrasses and a high sugar content making the grass mix superbly palatable and therefore more efficient in terms of meat and milk production.
A clover blend is used that suits both cutting and grazing.
